Magic Leap Experience

Collaboration with Magic Leap and Nomtek

An early attempt to create a mix-reality experience using Magic Leap

Project details:

    • The project was initiated and complete in 2019

    • Creating a compelling and interactive story in an Augmented Reality environment

    • Designing a smooth and intuitive experience for a tool that’s unfamiliar to most users

    • Building an on-brand virtual experience with limitations of the visual accuracy

    • Research and experiment with the tool to identify opportunities in storytelling

    • Create the detailed storyboard and provide multi-media content for the demonstration

    • Design the UI mockups to build the brand language in a virtual environment

    • Coordinate with the developer team to finalize the details to achieve a high-quality outcome

Route simulator

Route simulator is a calculator to generate preliminary routes analysis between destinations rapidly. The tool can create route alignment, calculate travel time, and provide comparisons with other transportation. It is mainly used for presentation and event purposes.

Project details:

    • The project was initiated in 2018

    • Beta version complete in 2018

    • Rebrand in 2019

    • Internal app launched in 2021

    • Creating a simple, intuitive and informative user experience with limited resources

    • Utilizing data to visualize hyperloop routes considering parameters including speed, turning radius, and right-of-way

    • Limited resources and time to redesign the tool when launching the new brand HyperloopTT

    • Initiate the project to increase public engagement by generating hyperlop routes around the world

    • Build the project team together by sourcing and brining onboard 3 UI/UX designers

    • Lead the beta prototype development by coordinating between teams

    • Design the UI/UX rebrand mockup and coordinate with the developer team to implement

    • Work closely with the developer team remotely to finalize critical details

Virtual experiences

Mix-reality experiences, such as Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality in mobile or AR/VR devices, are commonly used in the design process, then assets for public release. It helps the early exploration of concepts and later provides an interactive and immersive simulation of the experience.

Below shows a collection of virtual experiences:

Mobile AR app | HyperloopTT Experience

Mobile AR APP | Collaboration with Z-reality

Project details:

    • Project initiated in 2019

    • Launched in Apple App Store in 2020

    • Creating an interactive, intuitive, and informative AR experience that is unfamiliar to most users

    • Expanding brand UI language in the early stage of rebrand

    • Presenting accurate 3D assets with limitations of material and coloring

    • Identifying the content and creating the initial storyboard

    • Expand brand language in the mobile app with UI/UX team

    • Work with the developer team closely to present accurately the system color, material, and texture

Capsule riding simulator

Desktop VR application | Collaboration with Outer Realm and ICONA

Passenger capsule riding VR simulator was part of the interior experience in CIIE, Shanghai.

Project details:

    • Project was initiated in September and completed by November 2021

    • Delivering a high-quality and immersive VR experience with a short time frame and limited budget

    • Creating a compelling narrative that inspires and impress visitors in a large-scale global event

    • Solving technical challenges of simultaneous experience for multiple users

    • Exploring and building out sound environment that match the vision and brand

    • Bring onboard VR developer team and sound design partner

    • Finalize the narrative with ICONA team, including storyboard and on-site visitor experiences

    • Coordinate and finalize sound implementation including audio script, voice-over, and sound effects

    • Work closely with the VR developer team to present accurate material, lighting, technology and touchpoints, and sound

360 video for a web-based immersive experience, move the cursor to look around

Connected travel space

Capsule interior technology interface design

The vision for hyperloop travel is to develop a connected and personalized travel space. In the meantime, technology is hidden and well-integrated, making it a seamless extension of the physical environment.

Project details:

    • The digital interface design was completed in two weeks in October 2021

    • Creating an intuitive and comprehensive digital interface without much defined components

    • Expanding brand language to match the physical space

    • Coordinating multiple teams based at different time zones in a short period of time

    • Setup the working process to deliver a high-quality outcome within a short time frame

    • Identify critical digital touchpoints and functions

    • Coordinate with the engineering team to finalize functions and regulation restrictions

    • Design the icons and UI mockups for the matching functions

    • Work closely with the project design team for the accurate implementation

    • Provide creative directions for the final renderings
